Distinct from the more common Juglans regia in phytochemical profile: J. nigra leaf carries pharmaceutical-grade compounds in concentrations not present in J. regia.
Cultivation status
1.050 ha Juglans nigra active plantation in Corbu, Donduşeni raion, under ANSA Phytosanitary Registry Certificate Nr. 2510401546 of 20 September 2021. Operates alongside 0.840 ha Juglans regia var. Chandler — the regia plantation serves the food-grade walnut programme while J. nigra supplies the pharmaceutical R&D line. Both under NORD NUC operational management.
